Happy Holidays! NEW Club EDA Downloads!

Merry Christmas and an advance Happy New Year All,

Jewel has had quite the year and I think I can safely say the same for The EDAs and and all of us here.  I don’t personally recall ever having as much fun on an album project as we did on “The Merry Goes ‘Round” and needless to say, the marathon Texfest concert and that entire weekend was an EDA event not soon forgotten.

As most of you know, we generally unveil new Club EDA downloads on the first of each month, but rather than wait until New Years Day, we’re going with the Christmas flow and delivering them early as Jewel’s gift to you.

To wrap up 2011 and begin the new year with something special, we’re featuring an unreleased song that few have heard, called “If My Heart Were Made Of Gold.”  Jewel wrote this song eight years ago, on December 26, 2003.   Its a sad introspective song, one of several written around this time, including the title track for her next album, “Goodbye Alice In Wonderland.”

Jewel debuted “If My Heart Were Made Of Gold” in Sydney, Australia in February of 2004 and played it a handful of times on the solo acoustic tour of America that followed in May, June and July.  Her last performance of the song occurred on July 20, 2004 at a concert in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  That is the performance presented today and Jewel has not performed the song since. This was about a month before the “Goodbye Alice In Wonderland” album sessions began.

Several of you have requested a high quality recording of this rare song for awhile and since the lyrics are so Christmas-relevant, now seems like the perfect time to feature it as a free Club EDA download.  To counterbalance the sad vibe of this song, a pdf download of Jewel’s 2011 Christmas card is also included for you.  In addition to Jewel’s blog about her new baby, I think you’ll find the card image says it all - illustrating how different her life is now compared to when she wrote this song.

If you’ve missed any of our previous Club EDA downloads, all of them are still available (including Jewel singing "Ave Maria" and "O Holy Night" from last December's download and two more great Christmas songs in our previous downloads), so you can help yourself to those files as well.

Enjoy this month's free Club EDA downloads of Jewel’s Christmas card and the unreleased song, "If My Heart Were Made Of Gold," recorded live on July 20, 2004, at The Embassy Theater in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Thanks for listening!  More good things to come in 2012,

Alan
